Families is a more academic view of my visit, written for the newsletter of the Open University course "The Changing Experience of Women".

The packing list shows what I took with me, with some comments on how useful they were.

My security list is, funnily enough, a note on the security list I took with me. This was an idea from a book I read on travelling to India, and though, thankfully, I never used it for the purpose intended, it was handy to have the names and addresses of all my friends back home, if only for addressing postcards.

The personal section is a brief explanation of some of the more personal notes in my diary. I didn't want to edit the main text, as I felt it had a spontaneous feel about it, but without these notes it would probably be unintelligible to those who don't know me. Some may argue it is still unintelligible, and I welcome feedback, and updates on things I saw, and perhaps didn't understand.

The list of illustrations is a listof jpegs on this site. I aim to make them around 50K in size. All photographs are copyright Jon Rouse 1997
