The National Eczema Society
Information from the web site: The National Eczema Society
The National Eczema Society was formed in 1975 when a newspaper article, prompting a large public response, indicated a vital need for an information and support service for people with eczema and their carers. From small beginnings the Society has grown to provide a comprehensive information and advice service, an extensive network of local contacts, an expanding network of local support, funds for research and a campaigning voice on behalf of people with eczema.
The National Eczema Society:
-
is the only organisation in the UK and one of the most established organisations worldwide dedicated to the needs of people with eczema, dermatitis and sensitive skin.
-
can help by providing the practical information and support needed to manage your skin problem effectively. The helpline of the Information Department can provide you with full access to the latest information through membership, providing support for people with eczema and their carers.
-
knows and understands the related social, personal and psychological effects of eczema and can help you manage your lifestyle accordingly to complement and support effective medical treatment and care.
Other priorities for people with eczema are:
- Campaigning for a better deal
- Increasing public awareness
- Funding research into the causes and eventual cure
- Representing the views of people with eczema
